My creative approach to delivering instruction keeps Children engaged, content accessible, and most importantly the learning fun!

Our service does not focus solely on the learner, KW Special Education Services is here for families also. My journey through Motherhood has solidified in me a heart for service. Our family began a personal journey through Special Education five years ago. I had always identified as a well informed, and educated person who possessed the skills to navigate difficult situations with grace. I had always served my clients with an empathetic heart, however it was when my professional world collided with my personal life that my eyes were opened to the pervasive challenges that face families of Children with differences that impact their learning are tasked with everyday. It was both my professional and personal experience navigating through the system that led to the development of KW Special Education Services.

Families today are up against budget constraints, long wait lists, a lack of continuity of care, limited resources in our school and community programs, and few supports in place that carve a path for them. Parents are tasked with navigating a very complex special education system on behalf of their Children. KW Special Education Services intends to provide a ramp for families to ensure access to meaningful supports for your Child through their school and community settings becomes a reality. We partner with other professional services with the intention of creating innovate, goal based interventions that drives results for your learner.  Contact us today for a consultation.

Switzer Psychological Services

Daniela Switzer, Psychologist, MA.,CPsych

Fairly new to this area, I have lived in many parts of Southern Ontario, finally making a home with my husband and 3 dogs in Cambridge.  I would consider myself a seeker of knowledge, as I always enjoy learning new things.  My current pursuit is a Master’s degree in Theology at the University of Waterloo/St. Jerome’s.

I earned my Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology from the Adler School of Professional Psychology in Chicago, after going back to school at age 35.  Since that time, I have accumulated a great deal of experience in assessment, conducting a variety of psychological assessments to people of all ages.  For the past 10 years, I have been working within the school system providing psychological services to students and educators to ensure children meet their full potential.  As a registered School Psychologist in Ontario, I primarily provide assessments for children and adults to assess for Neurodevelopmental and Mood disorders which may be impacting an individual’s ability to be successful academically.  While my clients are often children, there are also adults, young and old, who are attempting career changes or looking to upgrade skills who may also require supports academically to be successful learners.

I believe in lifelong learning but also understand that not everyone learns the same and that formal education can be so difficult for some that they avoid it at all costs.  My goal is to help make education a good experience so that people can become the best version of themselves.

Heather Young Counselling

Clinical Social Work/Therapist,MSW

I am a Registered Social Worker and have worked with families in various settings for over 17 years. From my own experience as a mom, as well as my work with families, I know that children thrive when we take the time to care for ourselves. Yet busyness, guilt and sheer exhaustion often prevent us from being able to get in touch with what we really need. When we feel disconnected from our own needs, we often feel more reactive rather than responsive when engaging with our children.

I graduated from the University of Toronto with a Masters degree in Social Work (MSW) in 2003. I love to learn and am always seeking out continuing education opportunities. I've completed training in topics such as Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Child Development, Attachment Theory, Mindful Self-Compassion and most recently as a Child Sleep Consultant.

I approach my work with clients like I do my own life, from a holistic mind-body-spirit perspective. I work with clients to develop a self-care mindset and gain tools so they can embrace their parenting role more fully. Qualities such as self-compassion, gratitude, kindness, and generosity require practice. We discuss how to actively and intentionally engage in this way of being to generate more consciousness and positive emotions in daily life. This allows us to be more present with our children. When we become more conscious in our parenting role, we can more easily release our own fears and anxieties, and see our children for who they truly are. We can connect with them more fully because we feel more connected to ourselves.
